SB 147—AN ACT CREATING AN EARNED INCOME CREDIT AGAINST THE FEDERAL PERSONAL INCOME TAX
This bill establishes a refundable state earned income tax credit (EITC) equaling 20% of the federal EITC. EITCs provide a tax reduction and wage supplement to low-income working families. Currently, 18 states and the District of Columbia have state credits.
EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage and applicable to the 2006 and subsequent tax years.
HB 5640—AN ACT AUTHORIZING BONDS OF THE STATE FOR RENOVATIONS TO THE CHILDREN'S CENTER OF HAMDEN AND THE WATERFORD COUNTRY SCHOOL IN QUAKER HILL
This bill authorizes $ 150,000 in bond funds for the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to provide a grant to The Children' Center of Hamden to allow it to purchase and install a new diesel generator for its residential treatment facility.
The bill also authorizes $ 1 million in bond funds for DCF to provide a grant to the Waterford Country School in Quaker Hill to build a gym.
