OFA Fiscal Note
Disallowing the use of leg hold traps will result in a loss of revenue. Currently there are approximately 400 trappers licensed by the Department of Environmental Protection. Licenses cost $25 each. These traps are the predominate type of traps used. The associated revenue loss is estimated at less than $10, 000 a year. An additional revenue loss estimated at $15, 000 - $30, 000 a year (based on past history) from leasing trapping rights on property is also anticipated.
The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either House thereof for any purpose.
