Explanation
The amendment modifies the definition of assault weapon. This could result in overtime, and/or the hiring of additional staff to complete the updating of databases, to determine who currently has an “assault weapon” under the modified definition. Further, the Department of Public Safety would be responsible for pulling and destroying certificates of possession that this amendment eliminated from the definition of assault weapon.
The preceding Fiscal Impact statement is prepared for the benefit of the members of the General Assembly, solely for the purposes of information, summarization and explanation and does not represent the intent of the General Assembly or either House thereof for any purpose.
