AN ACT CONCERNING RECOGNITION OF FOREIGN CONTRACTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Two persons of the same sex who have validly entered into a marriage in another state, a foreign country or any other jurisdiction in conformity with the law of such state, foreign country or jurisdiction shall have, in this state, not less than the same benefits, protections and responsibilities as are granted to parties in a civil union under sections 46b-38aa to 46b-38pp, inclusive, of the 2006 supplement to the general statutes.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To provide that persons who have entered into a valid same sex marriage in another state, foreign country or jurisdiction shall have, in this state, not less than the same rights and obligations as parties to a civil union have in this state.
