AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADVANCED STUDY IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE INITIATIVE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2006) The Board of Trustees for the Community-Technical Colleges shall establish the Advanced Study in Mathematics and Science Initiative. The initiative shall prepare students dually enrolled in a high school or regional vocational-technical school for higher education through programs of study designed for rigorous preparation in mathematics and science.

Sec. 2. (Effective July 1, 2006) The sum of four hundred ten thousand dollars is appropriated to the Regional Community-Technical Colleges, from the General Fund, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007, for the purposes of carrying out the provisions of section 1 of this act.


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
Section 1	July 1, 2006	New section
Sec. 2	July 1, 2006	New section

Statement of Purpose:

To establish and provide funding for the Advanced Study in Mathematics and Science Initiative.
