Explanation
The bill establishes a juvenile jurisdiction planning and implementation team that must plan for, and ensure the implementation of, any changes in the juvenile justice system that are required in order to extend jurisdiction in delinquency matters and proceedings to include sixteen and seventeen-year-old children.
The budget, sHB 5007 as favorably reported by the Appropriations Committee on March 30, 2006, contains $500,000 for this purpose. To the extent that members of the General Assembly participate in the team, Legislative Management will incur minimal costs for legislator mileage reimbursement (currently 44. 5 cents per mile). These costs are budgeted as part of the agency's normal budgetary resources.
The Out Years
The scope of activities to be undertaken in accordance with the bill is uncertain and therefore potential costs, if any, in excess of the amount budgeted cannot be determined.
