OLR Bill Analysis
AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADVANCED STUDY IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE INITIATIVE.
This bill requires the Community-Technical College Board of Trustees to establish an Advanced Study in Math and Science Initiative to prepare high school and state vocational-technical (V-T) school students for college. The initiative must offer programs designed for rigorous preparation in math and science.
The board has already established a High School Partnership Program. The program permits individual community colleges to enter written agreements with local school districts, V-T schools, and parochial schools to admit their qualifying students on a space-available basis. The college pays the students' tuition costs and waives all fees. The school and the student are responsible for transportation and book costs.
