AN ACT CONCERNING THE CREATION OF A NANOTECHNOLOGY PROGRAM.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Higher Education shall review the State University of New York at Albany's The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and its nanotechnology degree program, and create in this state degree programs and pathways in this field. The state approved process for such degrees may include credit transfer from the New York nanotechnology program to related Connecticut degree programs.
(b) The Board for State Academic Awards, the Commissioner of Education and the Commissioner of Higher Education, in consultation with the Office of Workforce Competitiveness, shall review how the state can accelerate the inclusion of discussion and segments of learning about nanotechnology, molecular manufacturing and advanced and developing technologies at all levels of the state's educational system. No later than January 1, 2006, the board and said commissioners shall report their findings to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to higher education and employment advancement, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||
