AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURERS AND HEALTH CARE CENTERS TO PROVIDE FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES IN THIS STATE FOR MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) As used in this section, "CHAMPUS" means TriCare or the federal Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services, 10 USC 1071 et. seq.
(b) Any health insurer or health care center that contracts with CHAMPUS for health care services shall accept the John Dempsey Hospital of The University of Connecticut Health Center, and any other provider that is willing to abide by the terms of such contract for health care services.
(c) The chief operating officer of John Dempsey Hospital of The University of Connecticut Health Center shall ensure that CHAMPUS is accepted for services provided by such health center.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To ensure the availability of health care services and hospitalization in this state, in reasonably convenient locations, for military service members and veterans, who sacrifice for the benefit of this state and country.
