AN ACT CONCERNING ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY A CANADIAN PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGER.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the state of Connecticut to (1) develop a prescription drug program administered by a Canadian pharmacy benefit manager; (2) develop an Internet website and a telephone hotline that provides information to Connecticut citizens about how to participate in the program and how to gain access to pharmacies participating in the program; and (3) require the Department of Public Health to verify that participating pharmacies are safe, reputable and reliable.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish a new prescription drug program that allows Connecticut health care consumers to purchase prescription drugs at a reduced cost from responsible, safe Canadian and European drug wholesalers and pharmacies.
