AN ACT PROVIDING LIFE INSURANCE FOR ACTIVE DUTY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERS AND VETERANS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the state provide life insurance in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars for active duty members of the National Guard and veterans in accordance with legislation introduced by the Governor of New Mexico.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide state life insurance in the amount of two hundred fifty thousand dollars for active duty National Guard members and veterans in accordance with the provisions of a bill introduced by Governor Richardson of New Mexico which is intended to protect the families of our soldiers. Currently, the federal protection is miniscule when our service men and women lose their lives and their families are left unprotected.
