AN ACT ESTABLISHING A HOSPITAL-BASED INFECTIONS DISCLOSURE ACT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require hospitals to (1) collect data on hospital-acquired infection rates for specific clinical procedures identified by the Commissioner of Public Health in regulations adopted by the commissioner, including, but not limited to, surgical site infections, ventilator-associated pneumonia, central line-related bloodstream infections and urinary tract infections, and (2) report such data on a quarterly basis to the Department of Public Health, which shall make such data available to the public.

Statement of Purpose:

To require hospitals to disclose hospital-based infections rates.
