MASSACHUSETTS AUTO DAMAGE APPRAISER LICENSING BOARD — COMPLAINT STATISTICS

By: Janet L. Kaminski, Associate Legislative Attorney

You asked for statistics relating to automobile damage appraiser complaints received by the Massachusetts Auto Damage Appraiser Licensing Board (“the Board”).

This information is a follow-up to OLR Report 2005-R-0320 (copy enclosed).

The Board receives approximately nine complaints against automobile damage appraisers annually, according to Ms. Yvonne Torres of the Massachusetts Division of Insurance. Of those nine, about four (44%) are decided in favor of the complainant. The Board has not suspended or revoked any appraiser licenses as a result of complaints filed.
