AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICES

By: Kevin E. McCarthy, Principal Analyst

You asked for information on the firm Shuttle Express, which provides transportation services to Seattle-Tacoma Airport. You also wanted to learn what are Connecticut Limousine’s routes to Bradley Airport, where Connecticut Limousine stops in the New Haven area, and whether it has considered having a stop at New Haven Union station.

SHUTTLE EXPRESS

Shuttle Express began providing transportation services from Seattle-Tacoma Airport to the Seattle metropolitan region (King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties) in 1987. The firm is licensed by the state and provides the only shuttle service in the region. It currently provides (1) scheduled van service between approximately 45 hotels in the region and the airport, (2) door-to-door shared ride service for up to 10 passengers to towns throughout the region, (3) charter service in seven- and ten-passenger vans, and (4) town car service for one to three passengers. Passengers can book the town car service between points in the region (including the airport) or on an hourly basis. The firm currently operates approximately 100 vans and 20 town cars. Further information about the company is available from its Website, http: //www. shuttleexpress. com.

CONNECTICUT LIMOUSINE

Connecticut Limousine provides scheduled van and bus service between various points in the state and Bradley, JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports. It also provides private van and limousine charter services. Its scheduled service to Bradley Airport runs along two routes. One runs stops at Shelton, Trumbull, Bridgeport, Milford, New Haven, North Haven, and Meriden. The company has terminals in New Haven on Long Wharf Drive and North Haven on Washington Avenue. Vans to Bradley and the New York area airports also stop at Yale’s Phelps Gate, which is located on the New Haven Green. Some runs to the New York airports also stop at Yale Alumni House. The second route to Bradley serves Danbury, Southbury, Waterbury, Farmington, and Hartford. We have enclosed the Bradley schedules. Further information about the company is available on its Website, http: //www. ctlimo. com/.

A company representative believes that space constraints at New Haven Union Station preclude the company from stopping there. This constraint may be exacerbated in the next few years while a second parking garage is being built at the station. In contrast, the company’s vehicles do stop at Hartford Union Station.
