"AN ACT CONCERNING EMPLOYEE HEALTH SECURITY. "

After the last section, add the following and renumber sections and internal references accordingly:

"Sec. 501. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2005) Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 1 to 3, inclusive, of this act, no religious employer shall be required to provide benefits to a domestic or civil union partner of an employee. As used in this section, "religious employer" means an employer that is a "qualified church-controlled organization", as defined in 26 USC 3121 or a church-affiliated organization. "
