Strike everything after the enacting clause and substitute the following in lieu thereof:

"Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2005) The Department of Education shall survey all local and regional boards of education to determine the obesity rates at schools under their jurisdiction. Each board shall report to the department any information requested by the department for purposes of the survey. Not later than February 1, 2006, the department shall report its findings, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to education. The department's report shall include a draft curriculum for the study of nutrition in grades kindergarten to twelve, inclusive. "
