AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY REGARDING THE PREVENTION OF IDENTITY THEFT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the Department of Motor Vehicles conduct a study on methods to safeguard against identity theft and the use of false identification information in obtaining a motor vehicle operator's license. The study shall include, but not be limited to, evaluations and recommendations regarding microfilming all applications, adding fingerprints or other technology to the license to prevent fraud and the training of staff to better detect fraudulent documents.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the Department of Motor Vehicles to conduct a study regarding measures to prevent identity theft and the issuance of false motor vehicle operator's licenses.
