NEW YORK STATE PRISON POPULATION FIGURES | ||

You asked for New York prison population figures for the past several years.
According to figures supplied by the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics, New York’s prison population increased from 61,736 on December 31,1992 to around 72,900 on December 31, 1999. But it declined 3. 7% in 2000 to nearly 70,200 and it declined 3. 8% to around 67,534 in 2001.
Table One shows the number of inmates in New York prisons as of December 31st of each year from 1992 to 2001.
