MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT COVERAGE FOR THE DISABLED | ||

You asked which states allow people eligible for Medicare because of disability to purchase any one of the 10 federally mandated Medicare supplement policies.
Thirteen states allow the disabled Medicare population age 65 to have access to all Medicare supplement policies (MSPs) insurers offer in the state. Vermont offers access to all MSPs on a voluntary basis. The states are:
1. Kansas
2. Louisiana
3. Maine
4. Maryland
5. Massachusetts*
6. Michigan**
7. Missouri
8. New Hampshire
9. New York
10. Oklahoma
11. Oregon
12. Pennsylvania
13. Wisconsin
* Federal standardization requirements waived and exclude disabled people with end stage renal disease.
** Access limited to all policies offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.
