You asked for a list of all of the FQHCs in the state, including their satellite clinics.
FQHCs are one of several types of facilities that provide health care services to the uninsured and underserved. They are federally designated public or nonprofit, consumer-directed corporations that provide cost effective and comprehensive primary and preventive care to this population. On top of any state funding available to them, they are qualified to receive Medicaid and Medicare cost-based reimbursement as well as federal Public Health Service grants. In return, they are expected to meet rigorous federal standards related to quality of care, services, and costs.
Attached you will find a list of the 13 FQHC corporations in Connecticut along with their satellite clinics, as provided by the Connecticut Primary Care Association. Please note that three of the main sites listed are actually FQHC “look-alikes,” which means they are federally designated entities, have been determined to meet the requirements for federal Section 330 (Public Health Service) funding, but do not receive these funds. These look-alikes are also eligible for Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement and can participate in the Section 340(b) federal drug-pricing program, which allows them to purchase drugs at the lower, federal supply schedule rate. The look-alikes, next to
which we have placed asterisks, are: Norwalk Community Health Center, United Community and Family Services in Norwich, and Vernon Area Community Health Center.
For your additional information, we have also attached an overview of the look-alikes, produced by the Bureau of Health Care in the Health Resources and Services Administration within the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.
