DISCLOSING PRINCIPAL OFFICE LOCATION ON BUSINESS PREMISES
| ||
By: Marcelle Pichanick, Research Fellow
You asked if any state requires a business to disclose in a visible location either on its premises or in its advertising the country where its principal office is located.
We contacted the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and surveyed the New England states and seven other randomly selected states. NCSL is unaware of any state that requires a business to disclose either on its premises or in its advertising the location of its principal office. None of the 13 states we surveyed have such a requirement. Besides the New England states, we surveyed Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, and Virginia.
