LOCATION OF MERIDEN IN SERVICE DELIVERY AREAS
By: Veronica Rose, Principal Analyst
You asked what service delivery area Meriden falls in with respect to the state's human services agencies and other select state agencies.
In 1995, the state's health and human services agencies implemented a five-region service delivery system. Meriden is in the south-central region (see Attachment 1). The relevant agencies are the Board of Education and Services for the Blind and the departments of Children and Families, Mental Health and Addiction Services, Mental Retardation, Public Health, and Social Services.
Meriden is also in the south-central region in the Department of Economic and Community Development's delivery system, which is similar (but not identical) to the system used by the health and human services agencies (see Attachment 2).
Veterans requesting services from the Department of Veterans' Affairs' Office of Advocacy and Assistance are served by one of six district offices, depending on the region where they live. The regions correspond to the state's six previous congressional districts. Meriden falls within the fifth district (see Attachment 3).
The State Police is organized into 12 troops responsible for providing police services in their respective regions. Meriden is in the region administered by Troop I (see Attachment 4).
The Department of Transportation provides services through four districts. Meriden is in the north-central region (see Attachment 5).
