QUESTIONS FOR BOARD OF STATE ACADEMIC AWARDS NOMINEE | ||

1. (NEW) What role does Charter Oak College play in better preparing Connecticut's workforce for a changing economy? Does the college work with the departments of Labor and Economic and Community Development to help guide students in planning their course work? Does the college provide career counseling as other undergraduate institutions do?
2. (NEW) How does the college market itself in African-American, Latino, and immigrant communities? Are these efforts successful?
3. (NEW) Many colleges are beginning to offer on-line courses and even degree programs. Does the board see this trend as competition or opportunity? How will distance learning affect Charter Oak College?
4. (NEW) Does Charter Oak have any role to play in helping people leave and stay off welfare?
5. (NEW) Grade inflation occurs even at Harvard. What is the board's policy on grading? How is the policy implemented?
