CONNECTICUT EXPO CENTER
By: John G. Rappa, Principal Analyst
You asked if the Hartford-based Connecticut Expo Center receives public funds to cover its operating costs.
The privately owned center generates enough revenue from events to cover its operating costs and thus does not receive state or local operating subsidies, its executive director, Eric Nealy stated. The center has been booking events throughout the year except the during summer season, which is the norm for most cities without a major tourist attraction, Nealy explained. The center did not receive state development funding, a review of economic development project reports shows.
